In full bloom!

Introducing Jane Lampe of local florist Floreat, the mastermind behind our gorgeous dried bouquets!

Today we wanted to introduce you Jane Lampe, the mastermind behind local florist Floreat, and our gorgeous dried floral blooms in store!

Jane is all about all things botanical – think stunning fresh floral arrangements using local foliage, pretty dried bouquets – basically anything that looks, smells or tastes like a flower!

Farm-raised and now city-based, Jane turned to floristry after her years working as a town planner in Sydney and London. “I got tired of sitting at a desk all day writing reports, and decided I wanted to do something more creative,” she says.

Floreat is actually Latin for “let flourish”, which is pretty much exactly what Jane’s business has done! Starting back in 2010 in her North Bondi garage, Floreat is now located in floral paradise in Darlinghurst, just a hop, skip and jump away from us at Darlo General. Its offering now includes online flower and gift delivery, weekly flowers for the office or home, as well as flowers for corporate events, weddings, and other private functions.

With a self-confessed “country bumpkin” background, Jane is all about keeping things as natural and organic as possible, both in the way her arrangements look, but also how they are produced. Floreat's style is simple, natural and relaxed with an "unstructured structure", like the garden in which Jane grew up.

Floreat uses locally grown and sourced flowers and foliage as much as possible. This approach is a winner all round – not only does it reduce Floreat’s environmental impact, it allows Jane and her team to provide the most stunning, fresh and sweet-smelling arrangements brimming with local character and beauty. “I've also always liked to be a bit different,” says Jane, “and I'd like to think our flowers are quite unique as well!”

In line with an aim to minimise its environmental footprint as much as possible, all Floreat packaging also comes biodegradable, reusable, and where possible, recycled. Go team!
